Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician program is designed to help prepare students to qualify for employment as an entry level pharmacy technician in a hospital or retail setting. Students interested in the program must have a profiency in math and enjoy working with people.

The program introduces students to the field of pharmacy technician and responsibilities of packaging, distribution, compounding, labeling and recording of prescription drug transactions. The class work emphasizes medical terminology and courses that address pharmacy care, legal issues, drug distribution, etc. The curriculum includes math skills, communication skills and keyboarding.

After completing the Pharmacy Technician program, students will recieve job placement assistance from the Career Planning and Placement Office. It is recommended that students should get at least 6 months of work experience before sitting for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam.
