GED

The GED Program offers day and evening classes to individuals that need assistance in preparing for the NYS GED exam.  Candidates will first take the GED Practice Test (GEP) to help determine their readiness to take the full-length GED tests.

What is the GEP ?
GEP is the General Education Practice Test (GEP) designed to measure a student's readiness to sit for the NYS GED exam. All students who want to sit for the NYS GED exam must first take the GEP test. The test results will determine whether a student is ready to sit for the NYS GED exam or if additional academic preparation is needed.

How do candidates prepare for the GED exam?
The GED Tests measure knowledge in five areas; math, science, reading, social studies and writing.  Passing the exam requires study and preparation.  Classes at EOC are geared toward the exam and are offered every quarter. 

Where can I take the official GED exam and GED Practice test?
The Educational Opportunity Center is an official GED testing site for New York State.  The exam is offered once per month and practice tests are offered more frequently.  Call for exam dates and times.

How much does it cost?
There is no charge to take the NYS GED exam.
